Adult Acne In Women - September 9th, 2009

I found an interesting article on Web MD about adult acne. Adult acne, that is, not adolescent acne. I’m half pleased at the name distinction, half annoyed. Pleased because it makes me feel less alone to know I’m not the only one who is an adult and sufferers form acne, but annoyed because there shouldn’t even be a name for it, because adults just shouldn’t get acne. Actually, I don’t think adolescents should have to deal with it either, being that age is hard enough.

Anyway, this article said that Women are more likely to have adult acne than men. How unfair is that? Seriously. We have the babies, isn’t that enough of extra adult responsibility? Why should we get stuck with the acne as well? It’s really just not right, men should have something they get stuck with. Oh, well, they do go bald more often then we do I guess. I do understand the physiology here. It’s probably because of the ability that women have to make babies, that is behind the reasoning that we are more likely to get adult acne. It most likely all relates back to those darn hormones. Perhaps when I hit menopause the acne will finally stop? Do I have to wait that long?
